Client: McCarthy Stone
Programme: 2024
Project Value: £1.3M
Sector: Residential
The Project
The project consisted of a new three-storey 51 bed retirement apartment block built on the site of the old Failsworth Mill. Amenities include a homeowner’s lounge, reception, House Managers office, mobility scooter store and communal garden. Elecomm were proud to be selected by McCarthy Stone to be their M&E partner for the more affordable McCarthy Stone developments with Failsworth being the first scheme to be delivered.
Our Role
Elecomm’s scope of works involved the design, supply, install and commission of MEP services for the building. Early engagement allowed the Stage 4 design to be completed prior to starting on site, which placed Elecomm in a good pre-construction position.
The Challenges
With Elecomm being responsible for the Design & Build of MEP Services this project required close and constant collaboration with both the client and other specialist contractors. This was the first development within this new client scheme utilising a Light Gauge Steel Frame for the building structure and particular focus was made on the MEP services being co-ordinated with the frame and Fire stopping requirements being adhered to in close liaison with the fire stopping contractor and NHBC. Apartments were generally similar layouts each with an independent ASHP, MVHR, fire alarm system & Main Incoming Electric supply. To maintain a high-quality install there was an emphasis on keeping an efficient programme and QA sign off procedures of which Elecomm were key contributors to. Elecomm also carried out the enabling works for an EV Charging Array and PV install for the clients appointed specialists.
The Outcome
Elecomm delivered a successful installation for the client contributing to a new inviting retirement living complex which will be used for years to come.
