Data & IT Services
The Client
Diebold Nixdorf is an American multinational financial and retail technology company that specialises in the sale, manufacture, installation and service of self-service transaction systems (such as ATMs and currency processing systems) and point-of-sale terminals.
Co-op Food is part of the Co-op Group, one of the world’s largest consumer co-operatives, owned by its millions of members. Co-op Food is the UK’s fifth biggest food retailer with more than 2,700 local, convenience and medium-sized stores.
The Project
Elecomm were enlisted by Diebold Nixdorf to deliver a project to roll out an upgrade of the Ingenico PEDs that were installed throughout the Co-op estate.
This was a high profile project which entailed upgrading 2,747 stores (including petrol filling stations) to P2PE-encrypted PEDs over a 12-week period.
We undertook a full logistics service for the project, which included:
- Organising installation times and dates with each individual store and working to a complex roll-out schedule
- Receipt of new and refurbished PEDs in multiple deliveries – we checked all consignments, took photos for validation, and reported any signs of damage/tampering
- Storage of PEDs in a secure location with 24-hour CCTV surveillance system
- Daily tracking of serial numbers for every PED, whether it was in the warehouse, in transit, or installed in a store
The Outcome
A dedicated project team managed the successful delivery of this project, which saw 12-13 engineers upgrading 5-6 stores daily, and a total of 11,167 PEDS being upgraded.
Feedback from the client was extremely positive:
‘This has been a very complex project and so this is a significant achievement. I would like to thank the project team for all their hard work and perseverance.’
